Winnipeg   Events, Festivals, Arts and Music Brochures

Winnipeg is known for its world class arts and cultural events and festivals. From the internationally renowned Winnipeg Ballet one of Canada’s two top ballet companies to the Festival du Voyaguer, Western Canada’s largest winter festival and the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and Winnipeg Folk Festival which takes place in near by Birds Hill Provincial Park.

Winnipeg attracts the top names in music and has hosted concerts for The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Elton John and other top names in popular music.

The Winnipeg music and arts scene is also thriving on a local level. It is not difficult to find a local venue to hear live music or catch a theatre play or comedy act. The city has produced its share of international talent including The Guess Who (Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman), Chantal Kreviazuk, The Crash Test Dummies,  Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Econoline Crush, the Watchmen. Niel Young even spent a large part of his youth here and went to Kelvin High School. John Candy stayed with his aunt here during the summer months and loved eating at Alycia’s Dinner. He loved Alycia’s Ukrainian food so much he was known to fly in a dish or ten when he lived in Hollywood.
